I didn't know it then, but this is where Hearth & Stories began.
I grew up surrounded by family, traditions, holidays, recipes, and moments I thought were ordinary.
But life changed. Some of us moved to different states. We grew up, got married, and started having kids of our own. Some of the people we loved left us for Heaven. And somewhere along the way, the family gatherings that had once seemed like they would always be there began to change.
The ordinary moments we loved became just that… memories.
As I got older, I started thinking about how easily those little things can disappear. A recipe no one thought to write down. A tradition that quietly stops when the person who kept it going is gone. The stories you assume you'll always remember until one day you realize some of the details have started to fade.
Hearth & Stories grew from my desire to hold onto more of those things and to create new ones worth remembering.
And Now, I'm Making Memories of My Own.
For a long time, I don't think I realized just how much those ordinary moments shaped me. Now, as I get ready to become a mom myself, I find myself coming back to them more and more.
I think about the traditions I want to bring back or start, the recipes I don't want to lose, and the little things from childhood I hope my own family gets to experience. But I also know our story won't look exactly like the one I grew up with, and honestly, I don't want it to.
There are new traditions to start, new places to have adventures, new recipes to experiment with, and plenty of ordinary days ahead that won't seem super special while we're living them.
Hearth & Stories is my way of paying a little more attention to those days.
It's a place to preserve some of what came before while figuring out what we want to carry with us. A place to try new things, celebrate the seasons, gather around the table, and make memories that might become someone else's favorite stories.
I don't know yet which moments we'll remember forever. But I can’t wait to find out.
